Montgomery, Alabama (WSFA) – A developer is proposing a 264-unit apartment project on Montgomery’s Chantilly Parkway.
Presented by Goodwyn, Mills & Cawood, the project calls for 11 three-story apartments, a clubhouse, cabana areas, pool and pond, according to planning documents. The planned development will also include a total of 415 public car parks, disabled car parks and garage spaces.
Lowe’s Home Center, Inc. purchased a property adjacent to a Walmart with plans to open a 117,000 square foot store in 2010. Years passed without any development on the premises, and the retailer eventually abandoned its plans without reason.
Since Lowe’s exited, commercial agents have been unable to attract other tenants to the site. The home improvement chain is now requesting three lots to be rezoned from commercial to multifamily.
The Planning Commission will consider detailed proposals at a hearing Thursday at 5 p.m. at Montgomery City Hall.
