After Cyber Monday, don’t forget Giving Tuesday

Most of us have heard of or participated in Cyber Monday. Thanksgiving is over, it’s time for us to go back to work and think about the upcoming Christmas holidays. We get on our computer and start our order using online trading.
What we may not be so familiar with is Giving Tuesday, November 29th this year.
It may not be well known, but it is very important. After all, giving on Tuesday is what the holiday season is about—spreading love through generosity.
Generosity means more than money. It also means giving time and effort, which is just as important as money.
You can prepay while in line at the drive-thru or grocery store.
You can cook a meal for someone who is going through a tough time or just needs a friend.
You can help clean the house of a neighbor who needs help or an elderly person who needs help with yard work.
You can spend time walking your dog at the Natchez-Adams Humane Society or Concordia PAWS. You can buy food and drink for PAWS volunteers. PAWS volunteers get nothing for the time they spend rescuing unwanted dogs in our area.
You can also volunteer at Habitat for Humanity and learn new skills while doing so.
Babysitting services can be provided for overworked single mothers who need a few hours to themselves.
GivingTuesday.org hopes to “transform the world through radical generosity and rebuild a world built on shared humanity and generosity.”
Giving gifts on Tuesday seems like a great way to usher in the most loving and generous of seasons.
