Amazon is rolling out smart shopping carts at Whole Foods Market stores in San Antonio.
The store at 18403 Blanco Road, Vineyard Shopping Center on the North Side will use the QR code in the Whole Foods app on your smartphone to activate the Dash Cart.
While shopping, the customer scans the items using a camera attached to the cart, and a real-time tally of the items is displayed on the screen. Produce can be weighed in cart baskets.
When ready to checkout, customers go through designated Dash Cart lanes and payment is processed via credit card on Whole Foods or Amazon accounts. A receipt will be emailed to you immediately.

‘No one cracked the code yet:’ HEB, Walmart, Kroger continue testing self-checkout tech
Amazon acquired Whole Foods for over $13 billion in 2017 and debuted Dash Cart technology in 2020. Since then, we’ve added carts to many of our Amazon Fresh stores and now to Whole Foods stores.
A spokesperson did not immediately respond to inquiries about which other US Whole Foods stores had carts. Whole Foods has another store at 255 E. Bass Road in San Antonio’s Alamoqualee shopping hub.
The company says it adds capacity while reducing weight, adds shelving for delicate and oversized items, improves weather resistance, and displays nearby products and deals while someone is pushing a cart. He said he has made changes to the cart, such as improving location technology.
