The Bud Werner Memorial Library is offering a free virtual screening of “The Territory,” an award-winning documentary about Brazil’s land conflict with global repercussions.
Winner of the Audience Award for World Documentary Cinema at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival, this immersive film captures the struggle of Indigenous Ulu Yu Wow Wow people against increased deforestation by farmers. Illegal settlers in the Brazilian Amazon.
‘The Territory’ offers an authentic portrait of the daily life and struggles of an indigenous community and was filmed in part over several years by the people of Ulu Yew Wah Wah. Documentary cinematography and sound design combine to showcase dramatic landscapes and immerse viewers deep into the precious ecosystems that the people of Ulu Yu Wow Wow are fighting to protect.
