Artsakh State Minister, Head of Operations Headquarters Ruben Vardanyan, chaired a meeting of the headquarters on Friday and informed the Information and Public Relations Department of the State Minister’s Office.
In the context of the current energy crisis in Artsakh, the lectures discussed issues related to continued meeting of the population’s minimal energy needs and ensuring uninterrupted operation of critical facilities.
Since Monday, Armenia’s power supply to Artsakh has been cut off from Azerbaijan-controlled territory. The Azerbaijan side does not allow experts to approach with understanding the reason to carry out emergency repair work if necessary. Artsakh’s population of 120,000 is deprived of a virtually uninterrupted energy supply. Currently, Artsakh’s power needs are met only domestically, at the expense of very limited resources. And since Tuesday, a rolling blackout has been implemented in Artsakh.
Ruben Vardanyan pointed out that there is a rather complex situation regarding energy supply and that measures need to be taken to ensure that the minimum energy needs of the Artsakh population can be met for as long as possible.
The Minister of State instructed sector officials to submit proposals for switching to energy-saving modes and reducing electricity consumption as soon as possible.
At the meeting, a discussion was held on the issues of Artsakh residents who have lost their jobs due to the deterioration of the economic situation and the suspension of business activities, and matters related to their employment. The Secretary of State has directed more recommendations related to this issue to be submitted.
The process of technical and organizational work to introduce the food group’s coupon system was also reported. It was noted that they would run according to an established schedule.
Along with this, the coupon system for some primary products will come into effect from January 20.
