Bissell Homecare Inc. has recalled approximately 61,000 cordless multi-surface wet-dry vacuums sold nationwide. This is due to reports of smoking, burning odors and potential fire hazards.
The vacuum was sold nationwide and online by Walmart, Amazon, Costco, QVC, Finger Hut, Ace Hardware, Kohl’s and Wayfair for about $360 between January 2019 and November 2022.

The company received 66 accident reports from consumers, including five reports of vacuum cleaner battery packs catching fire. Three cases of property damage and one case of burns were reported.
Bissell reported that the battery’s circuit board could overheat and catch fire.
The recalled model numbers are 2551, 2551W, and 25519, which can be found by removing the machine’s water tank.
Anyone with an affected product is advised to remove it from the charging dock and stop using it immediately. Consumers can receive a free battery pack replacement by taking the vacuum to her local Bissell Authorized Service Center or scheduling a free home repair visit by a Bissell service technician.
