At least one person was injured when a male suspect opened fire Thursday night at a Walmart in Evansville, Indiana, authorities said. The suspect was shot dead by police.
The incident was reported shortly after 10pm local time.
“Active Shooter Inside Walmart West” Evansville Police Department murmuredadvises the general public to “avoid the area”.
Evansville Police Sergeant, with at least one victim hospitalized. Ann Gray told reporters at a late-night briefing Thursday.
“At this point, we don’t know how many other people he shot in terms of other people in the store,” Gray said. “We are still trying to gather that information.”
Gray said at a press conference late Thursday night that the suspect was killed after exchanging gunfire with police.
“There were many times where he was actually shooting the cops before they could actually shoot him,” Gray said.
Gray was unable to confirm whether the suspect was a store employee. His name and age were not immediately released.
On Nov. 23, a Walmart store manager in Chesapeake, Virginia said, firing Inside the store, he killed six people before pointing the gun at himself.
