LOGAN — A 30-year-old man from Hyde Park has been arrested after a suspicious incident outside a North Logan Walmart. Michael Forrest Bean was taken to the Cash County Jail Friday afternoon.
Officers were dispatched to 1600 North Main Street at 11:45 a.m. A suspicious man, later identified as Bean, was obstructing traffic and messing with what appeared to be an object, according to a North Park Police Department press release. There have been some reports…like firearms.
Bean was standing away from traffic on the southeast side of 1600 North by the sidewalk when law enforcement arrived. He quickly became confrontational and aggressive and did not reveal his identity.
Police detained the individual for public safety reasons. In the process, Bean resisted, reportedly successfully spatting in the officer’s face, kicking him, and hitting him with his leg.
After being handcuffed, Bean continued to resist passively by not standing. He refused treatment and was transferred to prison without incident.
The press release states: There is currently no threat to the public regarding this incident. “
Bean was charged with assaulting a police officer, interfering with law enforcement, promoting physical substances, and disorderly conduct, according to prison records.
Bean previously lived in Orem, according to court records. He has been arrested multiple times in northern Utah for similar crimes, including trespassing, failure to disclose identity, criminal mischief, and other crimes.
Individuals arrested and charged with a complaint are presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
