Cardiff’s Anjuli Arora Dow and her daughter Divya take on the ultimate creative challenge, test their artistic skills and stretch their imaginations with Amazon Prime’s Play-Doh Squiced kids competition.
Hosted by actress Sarah Hyland, the season began airing in November with a new episode every Friday. Her sixth graders at Ada Harris School, her 11-year-old Anjuli and Divya, teamed up with best friends Emily and Dylan Chapman to compete. An episode of The Dows airs her Friday, February 3rd. They’ll have to keep their lips tight about what happens on the show, but they can reveal that their episode will be a pirate-themed one. Anjuli grew up in Rancho Santa Fe and returned to Cardiff from the Bay Area a year and a half ago with her husband and three children.
“We always have Play-Doh in our house and Divya is a very talented artist and has done a lot,” said Anjuli.
Divya works with clay and paint and also loves baking. She started baking during the pandemic lockdown and has also made elaborate cakes, cupcakes, pies, cookies and boba. “I think this practice of patience and precision has helped us with our challenges as well,” Anjuli said.
To take part in the show, Dowse went through an audition process that included an interview and was filmed doing a three-hour Play-Doh build on prompt. Everyone on set was very friendly to the kids and said it made for a very fun and supportive environment.The set was full of energy and creativity. face. “The children’s eyes were wide open.”
“It was beyond words,” confirms Divya.
Divya loved being on set the most. “Interviews are fun!”
Being in front of the camera allowed me to shape new ideas of what I wanted to be when I grew up. Divya now wants to be a movie star or perform on the Broadway stage. And Anjuli is excited to see what her daughter can create next.
