BATAVIA — A Batavia man who was acquitted twice in 2021 of attempted murder and assaulting a woman by breaking into her home now faces new charges in a Genesee County grand jury indictment.
Buell Street’s Jamie A. Dutton, 30, has been arrested repeatedly since his acquittal in 2021 and faces three felony charges on the indictment, all of which are charged with theft from Walmart.
Dutton is charged with three counts of third-degree robbery and three counts of petty theft.
Dutton is accused of stealing one bicycle from Walmart on August 3, another on August 14, and two wireless keyboards on August 18.
He has an extensive criminal record, including a 2021 arrest for attempted murder in Batavia and burglary of a woman in Albion.
He was tried and acquitted on the Orleans charges in June 2021.
He will go on trial in September 2021 for attempted murder for allegedly stabbing a man in the chest during a drug deal outside a water factory on Lehi Avenue in 2020.
The jury was unable to find sufficient evidence that Dutton had committed the crime because of the involvement of others.
A month after that trial, Dutton was indicted by a Genesee County Grand Jury on domestic violence charges and misdemeanor drug possession charges.
