Walmart Inc.’s Commerce Tech business sells local fulfillment and shipping applications to Salesforce, a cloud-based business software company.
Walmart on Thursday launched its Store Assist Fulfillment app and Walmart GoLocal’s same-day local delivery app in a deal with Walmart Commerce Technologies last year to sell retailers’ technology to other companies. , said it will be available to Salesforce customers through the company’s app store.
With Store Assist, customers can purchase items online from their local Walmart and have the item shipped or ready to pick up in store.
This is the first time Commerce Tech and Walmart GoLocal have partnered to offer a service.
Walmart spokeswoman Mandy McLendon said, “We package everything a retailer needs to manage local fulfillment and delivery. ‘Just plug it in and it’s ready to go.'”
According to McClendon, the technology itself is difficult and expensive to build and manage, making it valuable for businesses of all sizes. And these services are White her label, meaning they’re all under the company’s brand name, she said.
