Tribute held for Amazon shooting victims
For shooting dead victim Kyla O’Neal, friends and family who knew her prayed for the life of the baby who was born afterwards. Rose Schmidt of FOX 9 reports the message her family is now saying I stayed up all night to do it.
(Fox 9) – A man charged with shooting his pregnant ex-girlfriend outside Lakeville’s Amazon Fulfillment Center was also charged with the death of her baby, who gave birth after the shooting but died in hospital days later.
Lakeville Police said Kyla O’Neal, 31, was pregnant before 7 p.m. rice field. Her hospital staff gave birth the next night and was named “Savior” by her family.
On January 18, Fox 9 confirmed to the O’Neills that Messiah had died in hospital.
Donte Rapheal McCray, 32, St. Louis Park, was charged with second-degree murder for the fatal shooting. He initially claimed her shooting was accidental, but later admitted he was angry when O’Neill backed her car, so he pointed her gun and fired at her. .
According to the accusations, the couple had had a fight earlier in the day over McCray’s infidelity.
After Messiah’s death, he was charged with second-degree murder. Each time he is indicted, he is sentenced to a maximum of three years to his 40 years in prison.
After the shooting, the family stayed up all night in her honor with bright pink balloons in keeping with O’Neill’s vibrant personality.
The family also launched a GoFundMe fundraiser to help cover costs and funeral expenses.
