Chief Pea went viral in the summer of 2022 when he shared on social media that he had created a very pink Pepto Bismol colored sauce.
As more people became interested in the sauce, so did the criticism.
Consumers questioned the chef’s nutrition label, the price, and how some buyers received the sauce after it was shipped in a paper bag.

A few months later, Chef Pii partnered with Dave’s Gourmet to help bring her pink product to the “commercial market.” The company addressed the criticism, saying the creators lacked knowledge of commercial food production, which led to a significant setback. While some consumers are still skeptical, others are excited about the collaboration with Walmart.
