In conjunction with the North American Summit in Mexico City this week, the U.S. State Department’s Education and Cultural Affairs Agency (ECA) and Amazon today announced a new public-private partnership to support the Academy for Women Entrepreneurs (AWE). Programs in Latin America and American Space in Mexico. This new public-private partnership, launched during her 200th anniversary of bilateral relations between the United States and Mexico, marks a joint partnership between the State Department and Amazon to advance gender equity, economic competitiveness, education, and development. Now active in over 100 countries, the agency founded AWE in 2019 to provide women entrepreneurs with the knowledge, networks and access they need to start and scale successful businesses. . Amazon will help provide program support for this year’s AWE attendees in southern Mexico. This includes seed funding for pitch competitions and access to her Amazon learning products for over 100 female entrepreneurs. Amazon’s contribution also supports her AWE attendees in Brazil. Additionally, the ministry and Amazon will expand the reach and impact of American Space in Mexico. America’s key diplomatic tool, American Space is an open-access learning and gathering venue around the world that fosters community interaction with America. There are over 570 American Spaces in 130 countries around the world.
This public-private partnership supports the U.S. National Strategy on Gender Equality and Equality and the global Consistent with US strategy on women’s economic security.
Amazon’s partnership with the Department reflects a long-standing commitment to strengthening community sustainability and actively promoting women’s leadership in the workplace, markets, and communities.
