Walmart offered applicants the chance to earn up to $110,000 in their first year by becoming a truck driver.
The company recently announced plans to expand its associate-to-driver training program, so you’ll likely need someone to fill that role.

According to Penn Live, it’s said to last 12 weeks and could offer six-figure paydays.
The problem, however, is that this offer only applies to those who are already Walmart employees.
To apply for the program, you must be working in a specific regional store, fulfillment center, distribution center, or transportation office.
To qualify, an employee must work at one of the Company’s locations within a 50-mile radius of the transportation office where they are employed.

The program will be officially announced in 2022, and Walmart has reportedly trained at least 56 employees from several “supply chain roles.”
This allowed 56 people to obtain commercial driver’s licenses and start driving full-time at Walmart.
The expansion currently includes a pool of applicants from 439 Walmart stores within 50 miles of employment transportation offices nationwide.
For example, anyone trying to do so in Pennsylvania must be within 50 miles of Pottsville, the nearest Walmart transportation office.
Another advantage for those interested is that Walmart pays for the training in full.
Fernando Cortez, Walmart’s senior vice president of transportation, said the program was a win for everyone involved in the statement.
“This program is a win for associates who can take the next step in their career without leaving the company,” he explained.
“This is a win for Walmart because we can continue to invest in our talented team of employees, and it is a win for our customers and members as our fleet continues to deliver daily.”
Employees interested in applying can reportedly apply online at Drive4Walmart.com.
Walmart now has about 13,000 drivers across America, according to Penn Live.
The US Sun has reached out to Walmart for official comment on its trucking program.
tough times
Walmart President John Farner has said the past year has been “historically challenging” for the company, so the opportunity to participate in the trucking program may be an attractive option for some.
Farner attributes much of this to US inflation, which reached 9.1% in June, the highest in 40 years.
“While we have received some relief from the pandemic, we have also seen extreme challenges in our global supply chains,” he told CNBC Squawk Box.
“And it was clashed with surges in demand, a shift in the sector from goods to services, inflation levels not seen in decades, and the onset of war.”
CEO Doug McMillon also said in December that shoplifting at the company was at “historically high” levels.
Still, Farner says Walmart can succeed if it adapts.
“If you don’t provide the best customer experience, customers will go to a company that offers something else,” he says.
“And with the pace of change we are seeing across the industry, it is more important than ever that we continue to change.”
