A Walmart customer went viral on TikTok after being detained by a Walmart employee despite paying for all the goods.
TikToker’s Travis Lee Ragan documented telling a Walmart meeter to get out of the way and not push the cart back, alleging assault.
In the video, which has amassed a staggering 28.4 million views, Travis is about to leave the store, but an employee stops him until the customer says, “Call the manager.”
The meeter told Travis to “pick him up,” but TikToker said it wasn’t going to do that.

“Now you are holding me hostage against my will,” Travis said to the workers.
Then he shrugged on TikToker and said, “We can stand here all day.” said [him] against his will
Travis then began pushing the cart through the store and the employees began walking beside the cart to the exit. The customer invited a Walmart meeter to follow him to his car, but the waiter continued to prevent him from leaving the store.

Travis tried to leave the store, repeating that the employee’s conduct was illegal. He then told an employee he couldn’t wait to “post it online” and the greeter said “post it.”

A manager then approached them both. Travis gave the store manager the receipt and said that no store employee could physically prevent him from leaving the store. “He can’t do it legally. He’s against the law,” he told the manager, who kicked out the greeter.
After checking Travis’ receipts and making sure all items were paid for, the manager handed them to him and followed the customer to the car.

In the comments, TikTok users have taken the side of their customers, with many saying it’s against the law for any business to block exits.
According to the Aisle of Shame, it is illegal for a store meeter to stop you, and if they do, customers are allowed to pass. The outlet said: If the meeter stops you or forces you to show your receipt, your rights may be violated. ”
