MEMPHIS, Tennessee — Police are seeking help to identify a man who took items from a Walmart without paying and threatened a security guard with a gun.
Memphis police said a loss prevention officer at a Walmart store on Lagrange Road in Raleigh approached a man and his mother Monday night after the officer noticed he had not checked all items at the self-checkout register. said.
The officer looked at the pair’s receipts and realized they hadn’t paid for all the goods. Officers said the man was furious and told her he was going to get her gun.
Police said the suspect returned minutes later with a gun. The suspect’s mother allegedly persuaded her son to leave the store.
The MPD posted surveillance photos on its Facebook page on Tuesday of a man charged with aggravated assault and the orange Mustang he was driving.
The suspect is believed to be in his mid-20s.
