Walmart’s global technology leader was honored this week by the Retail Industry Group as one of five “People Shaping the Future of Retail in 2023.”
Walmart Global Chief Technology Officer and Chief Development Officer Suresh Kumar received the award Sunday at a ceremony in New York City hosted by the National Retail Federation’s Nonprofit Foundation.
Other winners included designer Steve Madden, executives from The Gap and Home Depot. The event was co-hosted by John Farner, CEO of Walmart US and Chairman of the National Retail Federation, and Tony Spring, CEO of Bloomingdale’s and Chairman of the Foundation.
The winners “show many paths to success in retail and serve as a reminder that our industry offers meaningful opportunities for people of all backgrounds,” said Spring. said.
Kumar has 25 years of technology leadership experience at companies such as Google, Microsoft, Amazon and IBM.
He and other winners were featured in another video interview posted on YouTube, discussing their career paths in retail.
