It was June when News 18 started taking questions and looking for answers.
by email at Eau Claire A community development director said a commercial building with a drive-thru is under construction and site plans are actually being approved in December 2021. — This usually indicates on the site plan the business that operates within the building.
News 18 staff guessed it was a Starbucks based on the building’s design — As caffeine addicts, we knew all too well what Starbucks looked like from blueprints alone. Solid evidence was needed to publish this You Ask, We Answer article.
I have called and emailed Starbucks and the builder with no response. I waited eagerly for permission to sign. As the months passed, the warm summer sun gave way to crisp autumn leaves and cold winter snow.
We celebrated a birthday and a wedding and had a Thanksgiving meal. 2022 is over and a new year has arrived — But there is still no answer to the question. What are Kwik Trip and Walmart making in Eau Claire?
Then it happened. A few days later in 2023, a sign permit was applied for, and the sign said “Starbucks.”
